Softball Game Preview: Bellevue Redmen vs. Clyde Fliers

For the first time this season, Bellevue will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will host the Clyde Fliers at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Bellevue's victory against Old Fort wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Redmen narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Stockaders 12-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Redmen have posted since May 7, 2024.

Payton Hicks was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. MyahAnn Reesman was another key player, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Clyde entered their tilt with Gibsonburg on Tuesday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They never let the Golden Bears get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Fliers, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.

Clyde's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Bellevue, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.

Bellevue suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Clyde when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Redmen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
