Clearwater Central Catholic put the hurt on Indian Rocks Christian with a sharp 12-2 win. The Marauders haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Bethanny Ortiz was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. She also put up a home run, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alexis Rosado, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Ortiz wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Clearwater Central Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. Clearwater Central Catholic is 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Calvary Christian put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Lakeland Christian a 10-0 shutout. Ten seems to be a good number for the Warriors as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Morgen Talley made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Calvary Christian got a massive performance out of Alexis Camilleri, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Camilleri has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Bell, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Calvary Christian pushed their record up to 15-0 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, their record is now 6-8.
Clearwater Central Catholic might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from Calvary Christian when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can Clearwater Central Catholic avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
