Softball Recap: St. Pius X Takes a Loss

St. Pius X came into this matchup off a tough seven-run loss last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the St. John XXIII Lions by a score of 9-7 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Panthers have suffered since February 16, 2024.

Celeste Reed 2028 made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sophie Van Wallaghem 2028, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

St. Pius X is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7-2. Their recent woes sure aren't a result of their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing nine hits in those games compared to only 5.09 in the others. As for St. John XXIII, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Coincidentally, St. Pius X and St. John XXIII will both be playing Concordia Lutheran the next time they take the field. St. Pius X will head out to face Concordia Lutheran at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, while St. John XXIII will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
