Softball Recap: Northwest Comes Up Short

Northwest extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-10 in the process. They lost 12-2 to the Manchester Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Indians of the 5-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Lily Lyons made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

As for Manchester, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. The result was nothing new for Manchester, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.

On Manchester's side, the team relied heavily on Alli Hodgkinson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Hodgkinson has posted since back in May of 2024. Kailyn Eshbaugh was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

While Northwest had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
