Basketball Game Preview: Clifton Cubs vs. Bruceville-Eddy Eagles

Clifton hasn't had much luck against Bruceville-Eddy recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Clifton Cubs will be home for the holidays to greet the Bruceville-Eddy Eagles at 6:15 p.m. Clifton will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Clifton picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They snuck past Troy with a 62-57 victory. Given the Cubs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 336th, while the Trojans are ranked 1031st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Bruceville-Eddy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 68-53 bruising from Lexington.

Clifton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Bruceville-Eddy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

Clifton came up short against Bruceville-Eddy in their previous meeting back in December of 2020, falling 51-39. Thankfully for Clifton, Daylon Riley (who went 9 of 13 on his way to 23 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
