Baseball Recap: Hillcrest Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Hillcrest and Poteet squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Hillcrest had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 4-3. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pirates earlier this season, when they won 8-0.

Hillcrest has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 19-12-1 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Poteet, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-14-2 record this season.

Hillcrest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Poteet, they will square off against Midlothian Heritage on Thursday. The Jaguars will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Pirates surely won't give up without a fight.
