The Ord Chanticleers will take on the Central City Bison in a tournament on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Ord had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Arcadia/Loup City on Thursday. The Chanticleers put the hurt on the Rebels with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Chanticleers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 4th (when they won 3-0).
While Ord won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-19, 25-22.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Central City, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They blew past Arcadia/Loup City 3-0 on Tuesday.
Central City walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the third set). The final score came out to 25-16, 25-20, 25-14.
Ord better focus on containing Skylir Fischer and Ellie Graham as the pair were huge in Central City's win. Fischer had 11 digs and two aces, while Graham had seven digs and three aces. That's the most aces Fischer has posted since back in September.
Central City was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. They are a perfect 6-0 when they serve at least ten aces.
Central City's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-11. As for Ord, their win bumped their record up to 9-16.
Ord couldn't quite get it done against Central City in their previous matchup back in September as they fell 3-1. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Fischer, who had 21 digs and five assists. Now that the Chanticleers know the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
