Baseball Recap: Central Catholic Takes a Loss

Central Catholic extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-8 in the process. They lost 11-5 to the Butler Golden Tornado. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Tornado apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2022.

Central Catholic got a good showing from Carson Pettyjohn, who tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave Pettyjohn a new career-low in walks (zero).

On the hitting side, Christian Corderio was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season.

As for Butler, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

On Butler's side, Boden Lenyk was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. What's more, Lenyk posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Mavrik Clement was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double.

While Central Catholic had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
