Baseball Game Preview: Ebarb Rebels vs. Red River Bulldogs

The Ebarb Rebels will venture away from home to face off against the Red River Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Ebarb's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Pleasant Hill with a sharp 14-0 win. The Rebels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Red River can bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over Choudrant.

John Dickey made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Red River is 6-2 when Dickey posts two or more runs, but 9-13-1 otherwise.

Dickey wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Eli Murphy, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Ebarb is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Red River, the victory got them back to even at 15-15-1.

Ebarb might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Red River in their previous matchup back in April of 2022. Can the Rebels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
