Football Game Preview: Keys Cougars vs. Wyandotte Bears

Two dominant signal callers in Ryder Davis and Hunter White are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Keys Cougars will head out to square off against the Wyandotte Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keys has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 157 points over their last three matchups.

It was a proper cat-fight when Keys took on Commerce on Friday. The Cougars blew past the Tigers 41-6. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-6.

Treveon Guthrie produced another solid effort rushing for 201 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. His longest rush was for an incredible 76 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Keys was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 392 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 62 points the game before, Wyandotte was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They were beaten by Adair 49-6. The Bears haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Keys' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.0 points over those games. As for Wyandotte, their loss dropped their record down to 7-2.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Keys has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 260.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Wyandotte struggles in that department as they've been averaging 157.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Keys suffered a grim 27-6 defeat to Wyandotte in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
