Basketball Recap: Gilbert Victorious

After losing to Desert Ridge the last time they met, Gilbert decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Tigers came out on top against the Jaguars by a score of 55-48 on Friday.

Malachi Jones produced another solid effort dropping a double-double with 16 points and 16 boards. That's the most rebounds he has posted since back in November of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Champ Naegle, who put up seven points and three steals.

Gilbert smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Gilbert's victory bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Desert Ridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gilbert will welcome Williams Field at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Black Hawks have now posted at least 55 points in their last three contests. As for Desert Ridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Higley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Jaguars surely won't give up without a fight.
