Looking back at the Lower Merion HS career of one of the game's greatest.

As the world continues to grieve the tragic loss of one of basketball's most iconic figures, Kobe Bryant, the high school where he starred, Lower Merion (Ardmore, Pa.), has began a makeshift shrine at the doorsteps of the school's gymnasium which is named after him.

Flower bouquets along with basketballs, shoes, jerseys and other mementos have been left at the door of Bryant Gymnasium in honor of the 41-year-old, who along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others were killed in a Sunday morning helicopter crash near Calabasas, Calif.

The 18-time All-Star, five-time NBA champion and Academy Award winner led Lower Merion to its first state title in more than 50 years in 1996 when he averaged more than 30 points per game. The next year he began his brilliant 20-year NBA career.
