Baseball Game Preview: Ellison Eagles vs. University Trojans

For the second straight game, Ellison will face off against University. The Eagles will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Ellison is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Ellison fell victim to University and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 15-0 to the Trojans.

For University's part, Asa Sutton made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over 4.2 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Sutton a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for University: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, University let D'Angelo Alvarado and Jaylen Guerrero run wild. Alvarado scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Guerrero scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits Guerrero has posted since back in March. Carlos Perez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

University hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 7-2 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Ellison's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for University, their victory bumped their record up to 12-8.
