Soccer Game Preview: Mortimer Jordan vs. North Jackson

The Mortimer Jordan Blue Devils will square off against the North Jackson Chiefs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Mortimer Jordan comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Mortimer Jordan fell victim to Gardendale and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They came up short against the Rockets, falling 7-0. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while the Rockets are ranked 16th).

Mortimer Jordan was without their leading scorer, Brooks Redo, in Wednesday's game. With Redo sidelined, Zeke Smith got his first action of the season.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last matchup, North Jackson made sure to put some goals up on the board against New Hope on Friday. They walked away with a 5-3 victory over the Indians. Considering the Chiefs' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Mortimer Jordan's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for North Jackson, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
