Recap: Panther Creek Catamounts vs. St. David's Warriors
The Panther Creek Catamounts have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 29 points or more this season. They blew past St. David's 86-54 at home. Given Panther Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while St. David's is ranked 302nd), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Panther Creek's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Logan Ware, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Zy'vaun Puckett, who scored 20 points along with three steals.
St. David's loss came despite strong showings from Preston Copeland and Cooper Berkoff. Copeland dropped a double-double on 31 points and 15 rebounds, while Berkoff scored 16 points along with three steals. Copeland scored a full 57.4% of St. David's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Panther Creek is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for St. David's, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
Panther Creek will take on Fort Mill in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at. As for St. David's, they will head out on the road to face off against Hickory Grove Christian at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
