Basketball Recap: Van Horn Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Van Horn had won two straight games and Joey Anchondo did his part to make it three on Friday. The Van Horn Eagles snuck past the El Paso HomeSchool Panthers with a 43-38 win thanks in part to Anchondo, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Van Horn's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Gonzalez, who posted ten points. That's the most points he has posted since back in January of 2024.

Van Horn has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. As for El Paso HomeSchool, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.

Van Horn will take on Balmorhea at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for El Paso HomeSchool, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Patterson Institute at 6:30 p.m. on January 15th.
