Preview: Capitan vs. Cloudcroft
After two weeks on the road, Cloudcroft is heading back home. They will square off against Capitan at 7:00 PM on Friday. It might come down to the wire as the MaxPreps rankings project a close matchup.
After a dominant win in their game three weeks ago, Cloudcroft were humbled last Friday. They took a serious blow against Lordsburg, falling 18-56. Cloudcroft were in a tough position by the half, with the score sitting at 6-36.
Meanwhile, Capitan have had to suffer through a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were fully in charge, breezing past Mescalero Apache 50-0. That looming 50-point mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Capitan yet.
Capitan's victory lifted them to 1-7 while Cloudcroft's loss dropped them down to 4-4. In their victory, Capitan relied heavily on junior Casey McCarty, who rushed for 103 yards and 2 touchdowns. Cloudcroft will need to find a way to minimize his impact if they want to win.
