Softball Recap: Hale County's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Hale County entered their tilt with University Charter on Thursday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They came out on top against the Trail Blazers by a score of 10-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-7 back in March.

Carmen Beard made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Shyann Kearley was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Briley Eaton, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one double.

Hale County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.8 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 11.8.

Hale County pushed their record up to 10-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for University Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hale County will square off against Gordo at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for University Charter, they will face off against Sweet Water at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
