Softball Recap: Handley Judges vs. Sherando Warriors
Handley had lost 17 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 1-10 to make it 18. They lost 22-0 to the Sherando Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 29-0 back in April.
As for Sherando, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games.
For Sherando's part, Jessie Kaiser made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Kaiser has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Sherando got a massive performance out of Makayla Williams, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was Williams' first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendra Chunta, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
While Handley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
