Basketball Recap: Walhalla's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Walhalla won against West Ashley last Saturday with 49 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Monday. The Walhalla Razorbacks came out on top against the Indian Land Warriors by a score of 49-41. Given the Razorbacks' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Warriors are ranked 144th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Walhalla's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Miley White, who went 7 for 10 on her way to 14 points and seven rebounds. Gianna Ortiz-Viera was another key player, putting up nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Despite the loss, Indian Land had strong showings from Katilyn Knoll, who posted six points in addition to 16 rebounds and eight steals, and Variellis Vega- Soto, who had 11 points and five steals. Those 16 rebounds gave Knoll a new career-high.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Walhalla, bringing their record for this year to 11-3. As for Indian Land, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.

Walhalla wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 57-35 win against Chapman on the 3rd. As for Indian Land, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 45-40 defeat against Rock Hill on the 3rd.
