Preview: Iroquois Braves vs. Saegertown Panthers

The Iroquois Braves will head out on the road to face off against the Saegertown Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Iroquois focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday.

Last Tuesday, Iroquois was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 55-50 to Eisenhower. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Iroquois in their matchups with Eisenhower: they've now lost four in a row.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Roman Caporale, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Devin Brink, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.

Meanwhile, everything went Saegertown's way against Reynolds on Tuesday as Saegertown made off with a 57-31 victory. Given Saegertown's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while Reynolds is ranked 558th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Iroquois' defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-2. As for Saegertown, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Iroquois might still be hurting after the 72-47 defeat they got from Saegertown when the teams last played back in February of 2022. Can Iroquois avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
