Softball Recap: Shell Lake Triumphs

The Shell Lake Lakers were able to grind out a solid win over the Cadott Hornets on Monday, taking the game 10-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lakers.

Grace Naessen and Whitney Anderson were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Naessen didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Anderson pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Naessen has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Naessen went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Anderson went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two runs gave Naessen a new career-high.

In other batting news, Shell Lake let Missy Melton and Macy Melton run wild. Missy went 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple, while Macy went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Missy has hit this season.

Shell Lake now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Cadott, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Shell Lake has already played their next matchup, a 6-1 victory against Luck/Frederic on the 5th. As for Cadott, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 16-0 defeat against Fall Creek on the 5th.
