Basketball Game Preview: Rapides Mustangs vs. Oakdale Warriors

The Rapides Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Oakdale Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rapides has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

On Tuesday, Rapides was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 65-60 to Oak Hill. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (56), the Mustangs still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Oakdale beat Port Barre 74-61 on Friday.

Rapides has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points over those games. As for Oakdale, their win bumped their record up to 16-17.

Rapides came out on top in a nail-biter against Oakdale in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, sneaking past 63-61. Does Rapides have another victory up their sleeve, or will Oakdale turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
