Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sequoia). They never let the Jefferson Grizzlies get on the board and left with a 21-0 victory on Friday. With that win, the Ravens brought their scoring average up to 7.2 runs per game.
Woodsome Devon made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Sequoia got a massive performance out of Elkington Jamie, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Mehta Nisha, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.
Sequoia lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
The victory was the third in a row for Sequoia, bringing their record up to 6-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.3 runs over those games. As for Jefferson, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sequoia will venture away from home to take on Menlo-Atherton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Ravens' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season.
