Softball Recap: Quitman Wins Going Away Against Lakeside

While Quitman put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Lakeside. The Wolverines blew past the Warriors 15-0. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Brenna Lamkin made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hallie Kate Pullig, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Kinsley Ponder was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Quitman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .531. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2025.

The victory made it two in a row for Quitman and bumps their season record up to 16-9. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Lakeside, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Quitman will challenge West Ouachita at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lakeside, they will face off against Choudrant at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
