Basketball Recap: Baboquivari's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Baboquivari lost to Desert Christian back in December of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Baboquivari Warriors managed a 41-37 win over the Desert Christian Eagles. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Baboquivari's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amani Mease, who posted eight points along with 11 boards and five assists. Those five assists gave Mease a new career-high. Kara Baptisto was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to six rebounds and five steals.

Baboquivari smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 12 consecutive games.

Baboquivari has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28.2 points. As for Desert Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Baboquivari will venture away from home to face off against San Pasqual Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. San Pasqual Valley is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Baboquivari a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Desert Christian has already played their next contest (against St. Augustine Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
