Basketball Recap: West Seattle Takes a Loss

West Seattle was the 51-48 winner over Roosevelt when they last played one another on January 3rd, but their luck changed this time around. West Seattle lost to the Roosevelt Roughriders at home by a 56-40 margin on Monday. The matchup marked West Seattle's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Anthony Washington continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Roosevelt, putting up 18 points. Another player making a difference was Elliot (EJ) Sommers, who posted 11 points.

West Seattle has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Roosevelt, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 9-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Seattle will challenge Seattle Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Seattle Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 matchups -- so hopefully West Seattle likes a good challenge. As for Roosevelt, they will square off against Nathan Hale at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. Roosevelt is facing Nathan Hale at the right time seeing as Nathan Hale is stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
