Baseball Recap: Harding Has No Trouble Against Liberty

Harding had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Liberty on Thursday. The Raiders put the hurt on the Leopards with a sharp 14-3 win. With that victory, the Raiders brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Jacob Borsic made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 12 matches.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cory Kuhn, who went 1-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Khalef Freeman was another key player, going 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs.

Harding has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for Liberty, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Looking ahead, Harding will challenge Austintown-Fitch at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Liberty, they will square off against Champion at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
