Preview: Poly Engineers vs. Carver Vo-Tech Bears
The Poly Engineers will head out on the road to square off against the Carver Vo-Tech Bears at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Poly posted their biggest victory since December 5, 2023 on Tuesday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 73-45 victory over Digital Harbor. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Poly has posted against Digital Harbor since December 8, 2016.
Meanwhile, Carver Vo-Tech waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They escaped with a win against City College by the margin of a single free throw, 62-61.
Dorrian Sands was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Desmond Handon, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Poly now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Carver Vo-Tech, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Poly against Carver Vo-Tech in their previous matchup back in February of 2018 as the squad secured a 72-27 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Poly since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
