Softball Recap: Coronado Triumphs

With a playoff win on the line, Coronado rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Tri-City Christian Eagles 6-4. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Islanders as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Quinn Smock spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Jersey Cunningham was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Natalie Fay, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Coronado's win bumped their record up to 16-10-1. As for Tri-City Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12.

Looking ahead, Coronado will challenge Brawley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Islanders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. Tri-City Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
