Basketball Recap: Canton Tigers vs. Cleveland Central Wolves
The Canton Tigers had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They walked away with a 48-35 victory over Cleveland Central. Given Canton's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Wolves are ranked 131st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Shamira Morton was her usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 25 points, 20 rebounds, and 12 blocks. Morton is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaniyah Hawkins, who scored three points along with ten rebounds and five steals.
Canton's win bumped their record up to 23-3. As for Cleveland Central, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-13.
Canton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cleveland Central also has no future games currently scheduled.
