Basketball Game Preview: River Ridge Hawks vs. Gig Harbor Tides

River Ridge is 0-6 against Gig Harbor since January of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The River Ridge Hawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Gig Harbor Tides at 7:00 p.m.

River Ridge is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest loss since December 6, 2023 on Wednesday. They took a blow against Lincoln, falling 76-43. The matchup marked the Hawks' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the defeat, River Ridge saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ryzen Nunez posted ten points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Gig Harbor waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They had just enough and edged the Seahawks out 56-54. Given the Tides' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Seahawks are ranked 230th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Gig Harbor has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for River Ridge, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5.
