Baseball Game Preview: Wayne Warriors vs. Miamisburg Vikings

Wayne is 1-9 against Miamisburg since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Warriors will venture away from home to face off against the Vikings at 5:00 p.m.

Wayne will bounce into Wednesday's game after beating Miamisburg, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Warriors blew past the Vikings 9-1 on Monday.

Peyton Tengesdahl was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 6.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Wayne let Braylon Byrd and Peyton Anderson run wild. Byrd got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI, while Anderson scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs Anderson has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Joey Tobe, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Miamisburg's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-6. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 2.75 runs. As for Wayne, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Wayne took their victory against Miamisburg in their previous meeting on Monday by a conclusive 9-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
