Baseball Recap: Sandwich Drops Season-High Score on Indian Creek

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sandwich). They never let the Indian Creek Timberwolves get on the board and left with a 25-0 victory on Friday. With that win, the Indians brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Griffin Somlock made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. He also hit a triple, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braden Behringer, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. He also put up a triple, which was his first of the season. Wyatt Gregory was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

Sandwich always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .684. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Sandwich's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Indian Creek, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Sandwich will host Plano at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The contest will give the Indians their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Indian Creek, they will take on River Ridge/Scales Mound at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
