Basketball Recap: Westfield Takes a Loss

Westfield was the 59-48 winner over Nimitz when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Westfield Mustangs took a 70-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nimitz Cougars on Wednesday.

Jaden Bergeron continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Nimitz, putting up 27 points in addition to seven assists and four steals. The game was Bergeron's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Coleman, who posted 14 points.

Westfield's loss dropped their record down to 14-12-1. As for Nimitz, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-14 record this season.

Westfield will face off against Aldine at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Aldine will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Westfield surely won't give up without a fight. As for Nimitz, they will square off against Benjamin Davis at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Nimitz's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.
