Basketball Recap: South Pasadena Comes Up Short

If South Pasadena was riding high fresh off their 87-51 takedown of Monrovia on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The South Pasadena Tigers fell just short of the Bellflower Buccaneers by a score of 55-53 on Saturday. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Buccaneers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2020.

Despite the loss, South Pasadena still got an impressive performance from Oni Balogun, who went 7 of 17 on his way to 19 points and three steals. That's the most points Balogun has posted since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Trevor Cohen, who posted six points along with seven rebounds and five steals.

South Pasadena's loss dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Bellflower, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 15-7.

South Pasadena didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 69-68 defeat against George Washington Prep on the 20th. Bellflower has also already played their next game, a 45-42 victory against North on the 20th.
