Softball Game Preview: Los Molinos Bulldogs vs. Corning Cardinals

Los Molinos has gone a perfect 3-0 against Corning recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Los Molinos is taking a road trip to square off against Corning at 4:00 p.m. Los Molinos is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Los Molinos had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Modoc on Saturday. Los Molinos blew past Modoc 11-0. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Addison Jones made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one triple.

In other batting news, Kylie Kvalvik was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. Maura Combs was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Corning, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Willows 6-5 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cardinals have posted since March 28, 2024.

Corning's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Los Molinos, their record now sits at 9-1-1.

Los Molinos was able to grind out a solid victory over Corning in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 12-7. Does Los Molinos have another victory up their sleeve, or will Corning turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
