Basketball Recap: Make It 18 in a Row for Oceanside Collegiate Academy

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Oceanside Collegiate Academy had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Swansea Tigers 85-15. The Landsharks' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Oceanside Collegiate Academy was led to victory by Carson Jones and Jake Thomas. Jones went 9-for-12 to rack up 24 points and seven rebounds, while Thomas went 9-for-13 en route to 18 points and six boards. Thanks to that strong game, Jones now owns an excellent 40.7% three-point shooting accuracy. Abe Davinroy was another key player, putting up nine points and seven boards.

Oceanside Collegiate Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 6.8 offensive rebounds per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 13.8.

Swansea's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zyshawn Jamison, who posted ten points. That was a full 66.7% of Swansea's points, marking the 13th time in a row Jamison has scored more than a third of the team's points.

The win (which was Oceanside Collegiate Academy's 18th in a row) raised their record to 22-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.4 points over those games. As for Swansea, they dropped their record down to 0-20 with the defeat, which was their 23rd straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Oceanside Collegiate Academy will be playing at home against Georgetown at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Georgetown's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups. Swansea does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
