Softball Game Preview: Tyler Legacy Raiders vs. Killeen Kangaroos

The Tyler Legacy Raiders will take on the Killeen Kangaroos at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tyler Legacy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

Tyler Legacy blew Mesquite out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Mesquite got their revenge. Tyler Legacy fell just short of Mesquite by a score of 11-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Raiders have suffered since February 24, 2024.

ReNaa Hicks was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stole at least one in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadison Maxey, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, two RBI, and one run.

Even though they lost, Tyler Legacy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Killeen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 19-4 to Chaparral.

Killeen's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Tyler Legacy, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Tyler Legacy took their win against Killeen when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 15-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tyler Legacy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
