Basketball Recap: Dixie Takes a Loss

Dixie lost against Abbeville back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Dixie Hornets lost 59-36 to the Abbeville Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Panthers are ranked 92nd).

Abbeville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaden Baylor, who posted 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Baylor is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Altavious Patterson was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Dixie and nudges their season record down to 13-9. As for Abbeville, the victory was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.

We've got a battle between Hornets coming up. Ware Shoals is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57 points per game this season. As for Abbeville, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 75-56 win against McCormick on the 8th.
