Football Game Preview: Riverton Parke Panthers vs. North Vermillion Falcons

The Riverton Parke Panthers will venture away from home to face off against the North Vermillion Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Riverton Parke has nine straight wins, North Vermillion has ten straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Riverton Parke is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Covington: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Panthers blew the Trojans out of the water with a 52-6 final score. Fans of the Panthers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Derek Collom and Sean Vester. Collom rushed for 51 yards and six scores on only six carries while Vester rushed for 125 yards and three TDs on only eight carries. Those six rushing touchdowns gave Collom a new career-high. Jaxton Blevins was another key player, rushing for 51 yards and one touchdown.

Riverton Parke was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 350 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Riverton Parke didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Collett Sanders and Vickter Shoopman.

Meanwhile, North Vermillion played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Seeger, falling 49-13. The Falcons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-6.

Riverton Parke's victory bumped their record up to 9-0. As for North Vermillion, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.

Everything came up roses for Riverton Parke against North Vermillion when the teams last played back in September, as the team secured a 49-3 win. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
