Baseball Recap: West Jessamine's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

West Jessamine lost to Tates Creek back in March, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Colts won by a run and slipped past the Commodores 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Colts have posted since April 8th.

Hayden Peters made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Peters was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Tyler Giles looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Blake Buehner, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. West Jessamine is 5-1 when Buehner posts two or more runs, but 6-21 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Brock, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

With the win, West Jessamine broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-22. As for Tates Creek, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-14.

West Jessamine didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 victory against Greenup County on the 10th. As for Tates Creek, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 4-2 defeat against Scott County on the 10th.
