Basketball Recap: Seguin Takes a Loss

Seguin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-44 heartbreaker at the hands of the Burleson Elks. The Cougars lost against the Elks in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 57-29 score last time.

Seguin's record now sits at 6-14. As for Burleson, their record now sits at 8-17.

Seguin and Burleson could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Seguin (ranked 763rd) will meet Mansfield Timberview (ranked 162nd) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Burleson will challenge Cleburne at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 438 places (746 vs. 308).
