Basketball Recap: Independence Piles Up the Points Against Browne

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sunrise Mountain, Independence was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Browne Bruins 79-46. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 23 points or more this season.

Independence had a senior duo take command as James Davis dropped a double-double with 25 points and ten rebounds and Anthony Colonna dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten assists. Those ten assists set a new season-high mark for Colonna. Rashaad Wilson was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Independence smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Independence's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Browne, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Looking ahead, Independence will be taking part in a tournament against Gilbert at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Browne, they will square off against Alhambra at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
