5A-2 Region II District 7 Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

A Season-Best Effort from Alton Henderson Leads Marshall over Texas

Sadly, Alton Henderson posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Marshall over Texas on Friday. Henderson rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and also threw for 193 yards and a touchdown, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 63 yards.

On the year, Henderson has thrown 5 touchdowns while averaging 101.8 passing yards per game. It gets even more impressive: after six games last season, he was only averaging 1.67 rushing yards per game. This year he is averaging 59.83 rushing yards.

Texas Gets a Boost from Johnson in 43-42 Win

Javari Johnson was instrumental in extending Texas's winning streak to seven on Friday. Johnson did his part (and then some), rushing for 161 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry for the 'W'. He is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season.

If history really does repeat itself, Johnson might just drop another big game when he faces off against Mt. Pleasant on Friday. Johnson rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries the last time he and Mt. Pleasant duked it out back in September of 2023.

Tradarian Ball Dazzles in Texas Victory

Texas picked up their seventh consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Tradarian Ball. Ball was dynamite, rushing for 98 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, while also picking up 47 receiving yards. He is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season.

Ball might have his next game, a home matchup with Mt. Pleasant, circled on his calendar. When Ball last faced Mt. Pleasant back in September of 2023, he rushed for 140 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries, and also caught a touchdown.
