Softball Recap: Westminster Christian Wildcats vs. Lutheran Cougars

Westminster Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They skirted past the Lutheran Cougars 14-12. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Jaymison Lenk made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Lenk was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Allison Branstetter was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Sophia Bell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Westminster Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Westminster Christian's record now sits at 7-3. As for Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westminster Christian will challenge Lafayette at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lutheran, they will square off against Lindbergh at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
