Recap: Hugoton Eagles vs. Scott Beavers
The Hugoton Eagles had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.8 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 43-40 win over Scott. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Hugoton has scored all year.
Despite the loss, Scott still got an impressive performance from Jackson Rumford, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Rumford hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Sage Stoecklein was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Hugoton's victory was their 11th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.1 points per game. As for Scott, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-3 record this season.
Hugoton won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Sterling on January 20th. Sterling has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 310 points over their last five contests. Scott won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Southeast of Saline at 1:30 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Southeast of Saline focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday.
