Basketball Recap: Beecher Takes a Loss

After flying high against Illinois Lutheran last Wednesday, Beecher came back down to earth. The Beecher Bobcats came up short against the Prairie Central Hawks on Thursday, falling 60-35. The loss continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now lost six in a row.

Prairie Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Abi Nimbler, who went 7 for 12 on her way to 19 points and five boards. What's more, Nimbler also posted a 58% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Jayla Hammond, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Beecher's defeat dropped their record down to 12-16. As for Prairie Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-18.

Looking ahead, Beecher will host Grace Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Prairie Central, they are taking a road trip to take on LaSalle-Peru at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
