Football Recap: Corvallis Blue Devils vs. Butte Central Catholic Maroons
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Corvallis). They blew past the Butte Central Catholic Maroons 60-21 at home on Friday. With the Blue Devils ahead 46-14 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Corvallis' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aydan Mayn, who rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and also threw for 57 yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance gave Mayn a new career-high in rushing yards. Solomon Morgan was another key back, rushing for 121 yards and a touchdown.
Corvallis wouldn't let Butte Central Catholic keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Corvallis can thank Logan Avery and Camron Dela Rosa for forcing both of them. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Corvallis was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 368 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
The win got Corvallis back to even at 2-2. As for Butte Central Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 2-2.
