Football Game Preview: Century Jaguars vs. Sherwood Bowmen

Century hasn't had much luck against Sherwood recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Jaguars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bowmen at 7:00 p.m. Century has given up an average of 30.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Century faced off against Newberg on Friday. The Jaguars had to suffer through a 41-6 loss at the hands of the Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon football rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Tigers are ranked 26th).

Despite the loss, Century saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ryder Owens picked up 127 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Meanwhile, Sherwood was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-10 victory over Glencoe. The win continues a trend for the Bowmen in their matchups with the Crimson Tide: they've now won five in a row.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Jack Wilson and Jayden Wallace. Wilson rushed for 105 yards and one score while Wallace rushed for 97 yards. Those 105 rushing yards gave Wilson a new career-high.

Sherwood now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Century, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Century was taken down by Sherwood 43-7 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Jaguars were down 43-0.
